Dear All

Do you routinely do car seat challenge for babies being discharged? And if yes, could you please share the evidence.

 Thank you

I wonder what the share of babies going home in cars is in different countries.. Might this have an effect?

I will add this survey from the US where >96% of NICUs perform a predischarge car seat tolerance screen (CSTS).

Does it help at all? In any case it seems to prolong the stay if an infant fails the screening test.

I work at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center (SNVMC) and they have a very detailed Car Seat Tolerance Challenge (CSTC) policy. It goes so far as to proscribe testing in a car bed if the infant fails the CSTC twice. Testing in the car bed uses the same criteria as the car seat. Does anyone follow this practice? Also, I cannot find an AAP Policy Statement about this issue. Does anyone know of one?
