Posted April 2, 201212 yr I am looking for something more comfortable for the nurses to use in the NICU. We currently allow parents to wear hospital patient gowns but the staff must wear yellow gowns when holding the infants. The yellow gowns we use are stiff, hot, just plain uncomfortable. What do other hospitals do, any suggestions. Thanks

April 2, 201212 yr comment_5544 The purpose of the gowns are to protect your clothes from baby burps etc. After a few washings they are very permeable to bacteria so really they are only for soiling. why not get rid of gowming for parents and use patient gowns for staff? Barb Chappell
April 13, 201212 yr comment_5607 We don't require staff or parents to gown. We only use yellow gowns when doing direct patient care when a baby is being nursed in isolation (MRSA, similar situations).
