Our unit has recently purchased a Drager VN500 and I am responsible for getting nursing staff familiar with how to use it correctly.  Sadly in New Zealand neonatal units we do not have the expertise of Respiratory Therapists and was wondering if one of you wonderful people on this site could possibly help me out.

Specifically am looking for teaching packages/protocols/competency checklists.  We are finding the terminology rather ambiguous @ times especially when performing device and breathing system checks so need a 'dummies guide' on how to do these in plain talk specifying when to remove the lung, when to occlude the flow sensor etc.  It seems staff are performing these checks differently yet get all the green lights confirming the system is operational.

I have tried registering on the intensivecareonline.com site which seems to have what I am looking for but unfortunately they do not support registration from New Zealand. :(

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. :D

Hi Robyn, have you contacted your Drager representative? they are mostly more than willing to give you any education material they have which is often quite helpful.

Unfortunately I cant help with you the website, as registration from Austria is not supported either!

Thanks for your reply Francesco.  I got in touch with our Drager rep who has now emailed me a workbook.  Would still love to hear from anyone who is able to access the website.

Cheers,

Robyn

Thanks for posting the link.  Had already accessed it and have asked the IT Dept @ the hospital to place it as a shortcut on our nurses' station pc for staff training purposes.  Is a great site!!
