Objectives
IPOKRaTES seminars provide high quality postgraduate education which enables professionals to keep abreast of the most recent developments and offers participants the opportunity to discuss clinical problems or scientific issues personally with international experts.
The aim of the program is to share best practice and knowledge of best respiratory care of the newborn infant, from birth to childhood. Lectures will include discussions on optimum respiratory support of the preterm infant, to the sick term infant with hypoxic respiratory failure and to care of the NICU graduate at home. Participants will be encouraged to ask questions and provide cases from their own place of practice for discussion.
Topics will include:
- Care of the very tiny baby at delivery
- The use of nitric oxide
- Ventilatory strategies including High frequency oscillatory ventilation, jet ventilation and respiratory support of the infant with severe BPD
- Important supportive therapies including surfactant, nitric oxide, caffeine and nutritional management
