Aedi Budi Dharma Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 Does anyone have experience using nebulized gentamicin in neonates with pneumonia? Is there any evidence for this in neonates?
Mo7 Posted July 21, 2024 Posted July 21, 2024 To what end? what is the advantage over IV gentamicin ? Is it to treat VAP?
kyla Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 We have had some success in treating babies with inhaled gentamicin, in addition to system antibiotics, in particular in ventilated babies with pneumonia failing to wean from the ventilator. However, it was not under trial conditions rather more rescue treatment. The problem we encountered was that the flow sensor needed to be removed during the inhalation and therefore the volume guarantee mode needed to be stopped. Maybe it is worth a study!
