February 12, 201016 yr hello, we have used levetiracetam in a dose of 10 mg /kg ,though reference says only to be used in older infants. neurologists are happy about it . they say its interaction with other drugs is minimal and dose can be hiked upto 50-60 mg/kg/dy. We have used for the baby with intraranial bleed as an addition to phenobarbiton and eptoin dr.r.selvan
February 18, 201016 yr Hello, I'm an italian child Neurologist collaborating with the local NICU: in cases of status epilepticus refractory to phenobarbital and midazolam we use a load of levetiracetam IV (50 mg/kg), followed form a manteinance dose of 40 mg/kg/die divided in two doses. Has someone else experience with these AED?
February 20, 201016 yr Hello for all: Anybody have a experience with use of levatiracetam in new borns and outcome to 18 months? yes we have a good outcome with levatiracetam. past 6 months we are using the drug in our NICU as secondline AED. sofar we gave for around 20 babies , all of them doing well with no significant side effects. but we know it is not recommedned for neonates officially, but my prof ped. neurologist suggest it is a promising drug it may come as 1st line drug in near future by the authorities.we are using 10mg/kg
