i think you should emphesize on the pre and post op management.and when to suspect it .surgery is done to reduce the gut from thorax back to abdomen and to close the diaph defect

There is an article in this week's Swedish Medical Journal (in Swedish..., but I guess google translate can be of some help) about the accumulated Karolinska experience of diaphr hernia over 20 years.

Overall survival beyond 1 years of age (1-20 y of follow-up time) was 77%.

The current strategy is early intervention, commonly during the 2nd day of life, if the baby is hemodynamically stable.
