App Review: SimNICU

Featured Replies

I downloaded the app "SimNICU" to my iPAD-2

It was an easy install - no issues there

The interface is very easy and beautifully designed

You can enter Weight and Gestational age.....and then the app calculates everything for you....from infusions(morphine, inotropes,Heparin, insulin, anti-convulsants, Prostin), Drug doses for resuscitation, Calcium infusions, Blood component transfusions, UVC-UAC insertion,

The infusion calculator can vary the concentration of the solution -- an invaluable feature when you have limited fluid allowance. The Prostin calculator has a beautifully designed slider to vary the dose...an excellent feature

This slider should also be added to the inotrope calculator....it simply is beautiful

It has an intubation chart, Oxygenation Index Calculator and also a Phototherapy threshold caluculatorIt has some info about Ultrasound, Weight conversion,Vitamin K, ROP Screening, Pulmonary hemorrhage, Preterm thermoregulation in the Delivery Room, HFOV, Gastroschisis management, Golden Hour management for a preterm, Hypothermia therapy for asphyxia guidelines, Apgar Score

It also has a Vent Rate/ Exp Time calculator - a very useful feature when setting your transport ventilator.

It is thoughtfully designed with a very easy interface.

It has everything that I could dream of in an App meant to be used in the NICU.

I would strongly recommend it to anyone who works in the NICU
