Posted June 11, 201311 yr comment_6981 in our service we don`t have pediatric cardiologist , so , we don`t perform routine cardiologic monitoring in preterm infants ( the nearest center with pediatric cardiology is 110 miles), i was looking for information about it but I did not find. should we transfer the babies to perform a consultation? thanks Daniel
June 11, 201311 yr My suggestion and if you have access to an ultrasound machine: invest time to learn (functional) echocardiography yourself (or a doctor in your NICU). We have several neonatologists trained doing echo's and it is so valuable I can hardly think about how we managed before. And yet we have access to pediatric cardiology service almost within an arm's length
