Stefan Johansson
I am interested to learn more about microdialysis in newborns, for monitoring of subcutaneous glucose monitoring. We have an idea for a research project and would need a good way to monitor glucose homeostasis contineously. Microdialysis would be an option(?). This article here catches well what we want to learn more about: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11694701 If you have experience from technologies (commercially available or DIY) and the use if such technologies, please share! wackdi
Hi Stefan, Is it really microdialysis you are looking for or is it more the continues glucose monitoring? As there is a growing number of papers publishing on the use of continues glucose monitoring (CGMS) in infants this could be a good alternative when glucose monitoring is your focus. I personally have worked (and have done research) with the Medtronic VEO. Some related articles: Continuous Glucose Monitoring in Newborn Babies at Risk of Hypoglycemiahttp://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20338573 Continuous glucose monitoring in infants of very low birth weighthttp://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18971588 If you have questions about CGMS feel free to contact me. Greetings from the other side of the city :-) Dirk
Stefan Johansson
@wackdi - great input! we would just need something that works Either of us should take the local train for a coffee IRL! We just need to do a little more of think-tank work!
wackdi
Sounds like a good idea! You can reach me by my Karolinska mail address or cellphone number. Greetings Dirk
Francesco Cardona
I believe if it is just glucose you would like to measure you are best of with the available kits also used in diabetics. If you are interested in all the other stuff - then you probably have to resort to conventional microdialysis.
