We invite all experts for extensive discussion about recent basic and preclinical studies to increase knowledge of the development-function of the immune system in the neonate and also effects of maternal immunization. The immune system of the infant is functionally immature and maternal antibodies are transferred late in gestation to the fetus. Enhanced understanding of the neonatal response to pathogens and the potential for interference by maternal antibody in the function of the neonatal immune system is needed. The goal of this first international symposium is to increase knowledge of the development and function of the neonatal immune system and to use this knowledge to develop new and more effective vaccine strategies for this age group and also determine the potential effect of maternal immunization practice. Our target audience include Pediatric Infectious Disease Specialist, Infectious Disease Specialist, and Neonatologist, Perinatologist, Ob/Gy and all vaccine experts.
