  1. I have a colleague who is interested in surveying European neonatologists about acute kidney injury. Is there a society of Europe (like the AAP in the US) that anyone would recommend to start with?
  2. Gestational age may be a factor (i.e. 25 weeks with CPAP vs. term) - more than likely I would still give 2 points if spontaneously breathing consistently.
  3. All - We have just posted Volume 4, Issue 1 of the e-Journal of Neonatology Research at www.neonatologyresearch.com. Please take a look and tell us what you think (eneoresearch@gmail.com). We are also looking for papers for our next issue that demonstrate good science but may have had difficulty getting published (negative studies are a good example!). We are happy to help with English grammar, etc if needed. Thanks!
  4. Excellent paper by Profit et al. "Formal selection of measure for a composite index of NICU quality of care: Baby-MONITOR." Journal of Perinatology 2011; 31:702-710.
  5. The 3rd issue (Fall 2011) of the e-Journal of Neonatology Research is up and published. Come check it out. Free, open access, no charge for submission/publication. www.neonatologyresearch.com Email eneoresearch@gmail.com with any questions or if you want to submit for the next issue.
  6. The actual website is www.neonatologyresearch.com We have an ISSN number and are working on PubMed affiliation so these will be "searchable" in the future. The website is currently open, but remember this is not "live" yet (still a work in progress). Email us if you have any questions. We are still looking for 3 or 4 more publications for the initial launch. We will also initially be a quarterly but hope as word spreads and we get more submissions, we will increase the frequency. No page limits, free color, and fast turn-around time. It will be peer reviewed, and we hope to have all submissions returned within 72 hours. Hope this helps!
  7. CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS! If any neonatologists have a manuscript that has been collecting dust that you believe in but have had difficulty getting published, let us know. We are starting up a new electronic journal in the field of neonatology that will be completely on-line, open-source, and free of charge. Getting papers published is getting harder and harder these days, even those papers that are well-designed but may lack a few things or don't show any statistical significance (i.e. negative studies). We hope to launch the journal in time for PAS/SPR in May. Feel free to email me at eNeoResearch@gmail.com if you have any questions or want to know more about this new Neonatology journal
