Posted November 1, 20213 yr Dear 99ers, I would be interested (perhaps even worthy of a Poll) to find out if when an infant is on the DART regime whether clinicians lengthen or tailor the course of Dexamethasone (a longer tail so to speak), and what influences that decision (ie a 2nd course, X ray changes, FiO2). Thank you for your thoughts and opinions. Take care, and fingers crossed for COP26. We are all working hard to improve the outcomes for the coming generation - let’s hope they display a similar commitment 🤞 Best wishes Al
November 2, 20213 yr Hi we use the DART scheme as published and rarely change it. For select patients we have done a second round with precisely the same regimen after a couple of days in between. FC
November 13, 20213 yr Hi, If the patient responded well to DART and is off the ventilator on the second day, we shorten the DART course and skip the last 4 to six tapering doses. Our second courses are very rare and separated by at least 10 days. Patricia (Neonatology Dpt. Hospital Puerto Montt, CHILE)
November 24, 20213 yr Hi, If the baby successfully extubated, we shorten the course and discontinue after 2-3 days after extubation.
