Tuesday at 05:58 PM4 days Hello Guys,I consider giving brief anaesthesia for administration of Lucentis in babies already imi-intensive ward . Do you rely only on local anaesthetic given by ophtalmologist ? Would oral 20 % glucose be sufficient, or perhaps some midazolam apart form local ?Thank you
Tuesday at 06:00 PM4 days Author I did not precise - I ment giving Lucentis outside NICU - in "semi-intesive" area".Sincerely,Andrzej PiotrowskiWarsaw NICU.
Wednesday at 07:32 PM3 days There’s no much consensus in our group. Most are using- npo 4 to 6hrs, nasal cannula/nasal cpap/nasal IMV as needed. Usiinfg fentanyl and Midazolam. Trying to get away from Midazolam and using Dexmedtomidine(precedex) Goal is not intubating unless as a last resort Most need Fentanyl 2 doses and Midazolam 1 to 2 doses.
Thursday at 09:52 PM2 days In Stockholm, SE, these infants are sedated via the PICU, as treatment is done via them. So, I honestly don’t know about details.Spoke to a UK colleague today, at a large referral center, and they used chloralhydrate as the standard sedation + topical analgesia, with midazolam as backup (rarely needed)
