Posted December 29, 201113 yr Hi I am looking for an interesting neonatal textbook with covering all possible topics in detail worth reading if considering neonatal fellowship advise please
December 30, 201113 yr After looking at a lot of books - my favourite is Polin & Fox "Fetal and Neonatal Physiology" - there is a new edition out now. it has lots of details and goes into matters in depth. It is more the book to have if you want to understand the mechanisms of the diseases. Probably you wont find one book to cover everything though.. Also have a look at Robertsons and Avery's.
December 31, 201113 yr Avery's Diseases of Childhood has to be the one I would recommend...it is exhaustive , covers all topics....
January 2, 201213 yr Hi Good to know that you are interested in persuing Neonatology I personally would suggest Fanaroff . I found the layout and readability extremely good I would first of all go through the protocols of the institute where you like to persue Fellowship , before embarking on textbooks . I have learnt this aspect the hard way .. Once the protocols are familiarized , reading textbook will be fun because we would know something about everything .. Bye Gopan
January 5, 201213 yr Hi I personally prefer robertson for practical neonatology.fanroff has given a detailed discription of perinatal aspects.
January 11, 201213 yr comment_5194 I really agree with gopakumar in the aspect of protocols of the unit.Regarding the texts-Robertson takes lesser time to cover a topic rather than avery. But i personally prefer Avery as it is comprehensive and covers various studies too.Cloherty is a perfect manual. Best of luck for your endeavour. hazeena
January 12, 201213 yr Avery is a good one regarding the whole description...and cloharty gives u all the practical knowledge like a manual.....use both simultaneously
January 17, 201213 yr It depends on your use. Avery or Robertson to study for an exam but if you want a big consultation textbook (like nelson for pediatrics) without any doubt you can take Fanaroff, it is the best. All of them have a relatively updated editions. bye Peppe Pagano NICU-PICU Bufalini Hospital Cesena Italy
January 24, 201213 yr for practis manual of cloherty but for detail of mecanism fanaroff, is better, bye dr.bita najafian tehran iran

March 31, 201213 yr I like Fanaroff, but Cloherty and Gomella are also very good for quickly review diseases or procedures
November 9, 201212 yr read fanaroff and martin ...dont confuse with too many books , update ur knowledge with journals
November 23, 201212 yr Hi Has anybody read the new version of Roberton and Rennie? Would most people still prefer Avery or Fanaroff rather than Roberton Andy why? Cheers
November 23, 201212 yr Ups. Typo. Last sentence was meant to be "and why". I am specifically interested in your opinions about the Kindle versions Many thanks in advance
April 21, 201411 yr For a quick general reference I like the following book mainly due to it has alot of topics and it has alot of quick info  Neonatolgy: Managment, procedures, on call problems, diseases and drugs 25th ed.  by Tricia Lacy MD, Gomella Douglas MD, Cuningham Fabien MD, Eyal and Deborah  It has been a great resource for my interns and residents as well as nurses on our unit.  Patricia Lyon RNC BSN
