May 23, 201312 yr Guys, do you use 'Downe and Sagar' Scoring either? Are you referring to these - http://calsprogram.org/manual/volume3/Section20/08-NRP7RespDisSyndScoringSys13.html http://www.pediatricsciences.com/ojs/index.php?journal=jps&page=article&op=view&path%5B%5D=383 ?
December 29, 201311 yr comment_7319 We do use it for our term babies in birth centers, but not in the NICU. It gives the nurses a way to do a consistent respiratory assessment, as well as communicate the baby's symptoms in a routine manner. They must score all babies at birth at least once (if zero, they are done), but score> 0 is scored until it becomes 0 (i.e. resp issues resolve), or NICU assessment is done. Score of >4 is "out the door" generally, which means transferred to NICU for evaluation and support. Pat Scheans, DNP, NNP-BC Legacy Health Portland, Oregon USA Send Sticky Note
