As everybody saying there is no such thing as a best antibiotic, it depnds on the bacterial pattern in your unit. But most of the places using Ampicillin and Gentamicin as this combination covers almost all the usual bacteria. We r using the same combination. There was an artical in Neonatology today in 2007. In addition to that antifungal prophylaxis is also recommended.

I have a VLBW baby with grade IV IVH. He has siezuers inspite of have high doses of Phenobarb, Phenytoin, Midazolam infusuion and also on Fentanyl. If anybody can help on this to how to control siezures in this baby. Thanks

Epinephrine is drug of choice. Also sometime stress doses of Hydrocortisone also works in pt with hypotention

I believe Epinephrine is the drug of choice. It works very well in most of the cases
