    Since 2007, I have worked with Eduardo Villamor on many projects based on genetic polymorphisms and necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), vascular endothelial dysfunction animal and human model.
    Since 2009, I worked with Luca Filippi on the ROP project, first with the study of oral Propranolol, after with the use of eyes drops propranolol at 0.1% and then at 0,2% as a drug for ROP therapy.
    Since 2009, I'm head of numerous basic, translational and clinical research projects at the Fondazione IRCCS Ca' Granda Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico.
    My interest is intestinal motility, NEC, vascular reactivity, neonatal pharmacology, ECMO, and ROP.
    Since 2012, Giacomo is a teacher of the annual "Neonatal Intensive Care Course," directed by Prof. Fabio Mosca.
    Since 2011, I'm the Neonatal ECMO Director in my hospital.

  1. Antibiotic prescribing in neonatal units: an European survey Antimicrobial agents are the most commonly prescribed drugs in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). The appropriate use of antibiotics is crucial to improve neonatal outcomes, and limit the spread of multi-drug resistant agents with overall healthcare savings. As prescription attitudes vary between centers, in this study we aim to know what is the usual practice of antimicrobial use in European NICUs.
