In our NICU nearly the same criteria Gustaf & Stefan allready pointed out apply: - visit by siblings possible - skin contact possible - same hygiene restrictions as staff and parents - mostly no visit in unstable conditions On top, we request a full vaccination after STIKO recommendations and have a contact to the wards pediatrician directly befor the visit to be at least merely able to check the siblings actual condition :) In addition to the preterms reference nurse, we tend to plan and accompany each visit by our family pedagogue. To make sure upcoming fears and worries can be directly taken care of.

In the VLBW we tend to give a try with nHFO. Especially if intubation is required first (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.chest.2019.01.014) but also as first treatment after successfull LISA in the delivery room

Starting in the end of 2020 we use nasal HFO especially in VLBW preterms after or to reach first extubation and continue it untill they reach 21% and 7cmH2O MAP. We've also had good - but not controlled - experience using it for deteriorated apnoe-bradycardia in 2-3 week old premies. Equipment is Dräger Babylog® VN800 /VN500.
