    Dear 99Nicu friends: In this thread I want to know your opinion about: 1.- Which is the real validity of result of lactate in blood gases. 2.- Does the lactate in the neonatal period is really a predictor of good or bad prognosis(neurologic) 3.- Can you tell which decision you make whne you have a blood gas lactate value high. 4.- Which is the value of blood gas lactate that really worry. This questions are because in my unit there is a tendency of give a saline bolus at 10-15 ml/Kg in all the babies that have little, moderate or high lactate value.     Bdp and ductus treatment include fluid restricción. 110-130 ml/ kg/ d. The question is: oral or ev? Does anybody use 2/3 of oral liquid??

    Hi there! First, i must say thank you to 99.nicu. I am an RN in NICU for almost 7 years and currently working in Australia. Very well done to all of you. Amazing information and lots of important knowledge. You have added more confidence and made me a better NICU nurse. Just a question: Do you have a certain formula to calculate the mmol/ kg/ day of a Sodium or Potassium infusions? It seems most of our doctors got stucked with this. And i would like to also share it to most of my colleagues so that they can also question / counter check the Na+ or K+ order.     many times we met with cases with severe neonatal septicemia, in which we use multiple antibiotics and according to the blood culture,yet we still need use of IVIG a single high dose or 4 days smaller dose as recommended , but still we need to give once more after 1 week or more due to persistence of symptoms . can you help me afaf korraa
