bita najafian Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 hello to neonatologists in the world.after Npo period in treatment of NEC which kind milk is better? what is your idea about neutramigen in NEC? thanks,dr.bita najafian tehran iran
bita najafian Posted January 24, 2012 Author Posted January 24, 2012 very thanks!if mother doesnt have milk ,non postorisated human milk is appropriate or premature formula?
vijayashankara Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 If expressed breast milk not available, yes one can use preterm formula
susan123 Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 i agree expressed breast milk is the first option then preterm formula , sometimes hydrolysed formula are used
Dinesh N Patel Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 To restart feeding from NPO for NEC EBM is prefered. If EBM is not available then we can used regular formula feed with low osmotic load still baby tolerate it upto 100 ml/kg ,then we replace it either with preterm formula feed or fortify it with HMF/MCT oil to reach to fullfeed (160-170ml/kg/day
Stefan Johansson Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 We keep infants null per os during NEC treatment , and solely use mother's own expressed milk or donated "bank" milk for VLBW infants before/after the NPO period. If we need to use formula, we give preterm formula only, not Nutramigen.
Guest bbmalmberg Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 We use EBM first, then donor BM or preterm formula if mother does not consent to donor.
