Vicky Payne
Hmmm, I am not sure I know of any specific drugs where PICC line delivery is contraindicated- however, there are sometimes concerns with certain drugs mixing/being incompatible with other drugs going down the same PICC line..... is that what you mean?
Stefan Johansson
We foremost use PICC lines for 1) TPN and 2) for longer-term antibiotics / anti-viral (not for the initial doses, but after the first few doses) Apart for incompatibilities as suggested by @Vicky Payne, I am not aware of any specific pharmaceuticals that cannot be infused. 1
norbertteig
There is anectodal evidence that phenytoin should not be given via PICCs as it may enhance the risk for catheter occlusion and the same may be true for etoposide (not the typical NICU drug, I know...). Additionally very high concentrations of IV dextrose (40%) should be avoided for the ssame reason.
