  1. I like to be educated on how this head or total body cooling works and on the equipment available and their sources. I will like to try them out if the equipment is affordable.
  2. Congratulations to you, respected senior and junior colleagues and dear friends. Together we shall win forever.
  3. Foul smelling amniotic fluid was one of the significant risk factors for sepsis in studies by Shah GS et. al. (Kathmandu Univ Med Journal 2006; 4:2 (14): 187-191) and Betty C (Indian J Pediatr 2005; 72:23-26) and is considered a major risk factor for sepsis in my centre in Enugu, Nigeria. I think that teaching stands, and of course it does parallel maternal chorioamnionitis.
  4. In our setting we do cranial ultrasound as part of our workup and not much more investigation-wise. We however rely a lot on clinical acumen, particularly maternal, pregnancy, family and other relevant histories to guide us. A good physical examination with a view to determining if the IUGR is symmetric or not and if there are dysmorphic features or other obvious congenital abnormalities is also emphasized.
  5. I am not sure I understand what you mean by "resistant to hyperbilirubinaemia and sepsis" but I do know that a combination of asphyxia and hyperbilirubinaemia in the same baby is associated with a worse prognosis; same goes for perinatal asphyxia and sepsis and when the three conditions occur in one baby the outcome is even poorer.
