99nicu soon has 1500+ members, and it would be interesting to hear your opinions about our community. The web visitor statistics shows a steady and rising number of visitors too, but we feel that 99nicu does not reach its full potential yet. How can we facilitate discussions? Which features are missing? Are you getting too many emails, or too few? Can we improve design and functionality? Creative ideas about funding? Speak freely!

As being the informal team leader of the 99nicu Team, I take the freedom to express our thoughts about what we have achieved so far, and our ambitions for the future. *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** The Past Internet is the technology for communication and dialogue, and I got the idea in 2005 that staff in neonatal medicine should also gain from those possibilities. I had been a member of a computer forum for several years and had experienced the great potential in the networks created in Internet communities. Dear all, it would be valuable to hear feedback from you about our intentions to arrange Virtual lectures and Grand Rounds (with live audio and video and slides!). Is the idea itself good or should we focus on written discussions solely? If you support the idea, at what time would you prefer to visit virtual meetings? (we are aware of the limitations of the globe - but we should be able to broadcast at times ok for at least half of the world!) Do you have any comments on the conference system we are able to use, Marratech? Would you suggest a different system? (at the moment Karolinska Institutet lend us conference space through Marratech for free).

Dear all, we are considering to offer full text access to Archives of Disease in Childhood. We were offered by ADC to get access for a low cost per member, 25 euro, for online access to all contents at the ADC web site. The regular individual fee will be 163 euros for 2007, our discount would be about 85%! However, given the fact that we're rather soon approaching 1000 members, the cost for 99nicu would be 25,000 euros. In 2007, we expect to sell advertisment space for about 3,000 euros, which is basically needed for technical support, web hosting etc. How should we proceed? Dear all, the name of our community - 99nicu - reflects our ambition to create a meeting place that is 99 percent dedicated to neonatal issues. In other words; there is another 1 percent... Among our original ideas we discussed whether to open a Lounge, where members could relax and chit-chat about other things, such as nice Tapas bars in Barcelona (recent congress venue for ESPR). What do you think - should we open a Lounge!?

My Name is Norbert Lutsch, i just made a presentation abou myself in the Member Presentation Section of this Forum...... As i know from my own experience with starting up neonatal Nursing Forums, every start is hard!!! It takes time to build up a going Forum and it is kept alive with dedicated people just like YOU . Nevertheless it is necessary for our profession to get in touch with other professionals and the expertise of colleagues around the world to improve our knowledge and work....
