  2. One appreciated feature on 99nicu.org has been the promotion of published "Leading articles" in the scientific press, in collaboration with Acta Paediatrica, Archives of Disease and Chilldhood and Neonatology. This feature has been in a resting state... after the switch to a new software for the forums. Now, we have decided to re-publish the best of previous articles in a newly opened forum, dedicated for Leading articles. There are many really good articles in our old collection of Leading articles, worth to be high-lighted. When we are done with re-publishing the "Best of..." we will start promoting new Leading articles, and with a Journal Club twist

  4. Medical errors leading to complications and even deaths, directly or indirectly, occur in all hospitals around the world. NICUs are not immune from such errors. Many errors are because of system faults and can be prevented. The best way to prevent errors is to learn from our mistakes. Therefore, many NICUs have some sort of reporting system in place in which errors (of omission or commission) are reported. We have decided to open up a forum dedicated for sharing reports related to errors (including near-misses), which happen in your NICUs. In a true spirit of learning and improving ourselves, we are interested in finding ways of disentangling the possible causes of th…

  5. There is a neonatology section opened on Reddit.com, an initiative taken by the 99nicu administrator JACK. The section, or "subreddit", is not an official part of 99nicu.org. But, we believe that presence on Reddit will expose the general public to neonatology. Some content in open discussions here at 99nicu might also be suitable for posting there, attracting neonatal staff present on Reddit to sign up for a 99nicu membership. Just after the opening, a junior high school student asked about life as a neonatologist . JACK posted the query in the Education forum, and you can also view the original question here.

  9. Started by Stefan Johansson,

We now introduce 99nicu Polls - monthly polls about lots of aspects of neonatal care, NICU work, nursing etc-etc. Every poll will appear in forum it belongs to, topic-wise. One does not need to log in to vote, but members who wish to post comments will need to log in, as usual. The first 99nicu Poll is about pulse oximetry screening, and whether you do this or not in well babies before discharge from the maternity ward. Click here to find it, in the Cardiovascular forum. If you wish to suggest questions/answer in future polls, please email info@99nicu.org or post suggestions below.
