Do you want to join the 99nicu Team?! We need more people in the 99nicu Team and search for dedicated neonatal staff working for better neonatal world! Give a little of your time and become a 99nicu ambassador. As such, your main mission is to facilitate and moderate discussions, but also participate in the future development of 99nicu. You will meet new colleagues and friends from all over the world. 99nicu is a true hobby project for the current team; funding has always been an issue and therefore there won't be any monetary benefits. But we don't keep 99nicu going because of money, but because we believe that 99nicu is a good idea in principal, i.e. crowd-sour…

We have added a new forum "Neonatology in the News". As you know, reports and debates about neonatal medicine are not uncommon in regular newspapers, on TV etc. We felt that 99nicu should have a forum dedicated to discussions about such headlines, to bring these discussions also to our professional level. After discussions where to put this forum, we decided to house it on our Message Board. As for all forums, only in-logged members have permissions to post there. Since the earliest discussions that led to the opening of 99nicu.org in 2006, the vision of 99nicu has been to create a community for neonatal staff around the world. We have opened a new forum dedicated to discussions about breast milk and breastfeeding. The new forum is sorted (as a sub-forum) under the Nutrition forum, here! Breastfeeding is the superior form of infant feeding, actively promoted internationally by the World Health Organisation, WHO. WHO writes on its web site www.who.int For infants in NICU settings, also preterm infants, breast feeding should be a goal at the time of discharge. Promotion of breastfeeding in NICU settings is effective and probably cost-effective, according to this report: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19728934 Below: the international symbol for breast feeding.
