We recently had a Nicu gratuate who had laryngomalacia presenting with severe stridor. He had GERD in neonatal period and he didn't ventilation. Now ,Since he was desaturaing and in resp. failure he was ventilated and trasferred to the nearby bigger city. He was found to have grade 3 subglottic stenosis. Now he is 5 months old but the consultant pediatrician did not have willing ENT to do tracheaostomy.Meantime he needed reintubation . And the parent's decided to withdraw support. What best could have been done for this Kid in a well resourced place? Thanks for time, selvan.r

i wonder always about the use of steroids in peripartum period about it's side effects and effects. 1. When antenatal steroids are harmless and help in reducing RDS how post natal steroids have become dangerous in RDS ? 2.When steroids are used for BPD without serious consequences how the same steroid is dangerous if used post natally for RDS ? I will be happy to get the right answers for this nagging questions. thanks selvan rathinasmy ERODE,INDIA

  9. Dear all, Are there any studies looking at long term effects of hypercapnea in chronic lung disease ? I am looking after a baby (corrected gestational age - term) who is beginning to cycle on CPAP. PCO2 remains around 16 - 19 kpa. However, pH is compensated around 7.31 to 7.32. regards Dr. Shankar

  10. I work in a Sleep Unit, and I manage sleep disorders in children. We bought a CO2 transcutaneous monitor to monitoring CO2 levels during the sleep, to assess sleep apnea or obstructive hypoventilation. Somebody has experience about CO2 transcutaneous in sleep apnea in children? I would really appreciate any advice you can give me regarding the above query. Kind regards, Maria Jose Jurado
