VON Grand Round: The Infant and Family Experience in Neonatal Intensive Care: Management of Acute Procedural Pain
Check out VON Grand Round - about The Infant and Family Experience in Neonatal Intensive Care: Management of Acute Procedural Pain Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. (ET) VON Grand Rounds is a free webinar and discussion series from the Vermont Oxford Network Institute for Evidence-Based Practice. Click here to register for this webinar! Although lifesaving, the stress of intensive care on critically ill neonates can negatively impact their outcome and development. The stresses inherent to neonatal intensive care include the need for frequent painful procedures, the pain associated mechanical ventilation and major surgical intervention, and the overall environment of neonatal intensive care that is so vastly different than the experience of the infant prior to delivery and to the experience the family hoped for after their infant’s birth. Join the VON Institute for Evidence-Based Practice for this first in a three-part series of seminars focusing on how we assess and treat infants undergoing acute painful procedures.

Yes, the “Federated timeline” got a bit messy with (all kinds of content in all kinds of languages 😎), so I silenced many servers, keeping those related to medicine or science. You can click on “Show anyway” with no risk!- NICUVERSE hashtags
I added the following on the FAQ page #HASHTAGS No algorithms is putting the feed together on nicuverse.org, therefore #hashtags is of great help for everyone to keep updated. Feel free to use whatever hashtag you find great for your toots! In addition, we propose the following main hashtags: #NeoEBM - for publications and EBM-content #Nicuverse - about this space itself #NeoCase - to mark case discussions #NeoTech - about NICU medtech #NeoPoll - for polls #NeoNews - for news in neonatology #NeoPod - NICU podcast related topics #NeoMeeting - for conference discussions #NeoLife - about everything else from small to large, on- and off-topic- NICUVERSE hashtags
Thanks, great ideas, let’s start with this set! I make an announcement about this on the Nicuverse and then we see how it all develops!- NICUVERSE Support Topic
I started its own thread about hashtags, it is big topic IMO And, super if we can use some graphics on Twitter and elsewhere... to promote trending hashtags, we can just decide ourselves to which hashtags we want to promote- NICUVERSE hashtags
Lets start its a thread about NICUVERSE hashtags! All "toots" (posts) are displayed in chronological order, and there is no algorithm that up-/down-grades content based on your behaviour/interactions on the platform, or based on all the Big Data sourced and sold by Facebook, Google etc-etc. Which means that hashtags are more important for people to find relevant content. It is also possible to follow hashtags, like you can follow an individual. Just search for a hashtag, for example #NeoEBM, and than click on "👩⚕️+" to follow. Now you will get all #NeoEBM posts in your feed. Question - can we come up with and promote a set of standard hashtags? I suggest two: #NeoEBM - for toots sharing publications etc #nicuverse - for toots about the space itself- Our NICUVERSE has opened!

What is Mastodon? Check this video out!- Hydroxychloroquine in BPD
- Our NICUVERSE has opened!
As a complement to our older-school forums, we have launched a NICUVERSE, on www.nicuverse.org The NICUVERSE is based on Mastodon, a relatively new and de-centralised social media platform similar to Twitter, and suitable for niched networks like us. Naturally, the current development around Twitter has led to a migration of professional discussions to other platforms. We do not know where this journey will take us. We just felt this platform would complement our forum discussions here on 99nicu.org! We have opened a Support thread, post there if you have any questions or comments, or visit the NICUVERSE FAQs.- NICUVERSE Support Topic
We have launched a NICUVERSE as a complement to our older-school forums here on 99nicu.org Our NICUVERSE is based on Mastodon, a relatively new and de-centralised social media platform similar to Twitter, but free and an open-source software. So, in that respect, the opposite to Twitter... If you need any support about our NICUVERSE, please post questions below. All relevant Q&A's will also be moved to our NICUVERSE FAQs.- Hydroxychloroquine in BPD
I know about the studies on azithromycin but have never heard of hydroxychloroquine use for this indication. Sounds very strange! I would advice against any clinical use of hydroxychloroquine., and until there is data from proper research. A quick PubMed search found nothing on hydroxychloroquine related to preterm infants or neonatal lung disease. But some papers on maternal SLE and this one about "chronic placental inflammation". "Don't try this at home" UPDATE - some interesting info below in the Tw replies to the embedded Q below!- Tenderfoot Lancet by Accriva Diagnostics
