  1. As many of you know, I am engaged in Neobiomics, a startup at the Karolinska Campus providing ProPrems®, a high-quality multi-strain blend of freeze-dried bacteria. We are currently looking into improving the management of hypoglycemia management and have created a survey to learn more about your thoughts on this. Please take this survey here, it takes only a few minutes to complete. We will donate 10 EUR to the Red Cross for each completed response. You can also use this link: https://forms.gle/sEPuu1CpULrDg5fi8
  2. Dear all, while updates in Discussions are popping up as "Unread content" I just highlight that the updates on the Pages in this space are not being marked up when we add more info on those Pages. For example, the Page with NICUs that can take transferred patients is getting larger and larger! So, please check out the Pages as well when visiting this space for "Support NICUs in Ukraine"
  3. @NHowold thanks! I added a short version of your info on "My NICU can help page" above https://99nicu.org/clubs/page/8-my-nicu-can-help/
  4. Dear all, we have opened a dedicated space for all discussions and info about NICU support to Ukraine. Please go there for comments and questions, and info-sharing
  5. Dear all, we are setting up a dedicated space here on 99nicu about Support to NICUs in Ukraine, see link below. Any member can go there and post new threads and comments to. We are also seeking contact directly with staff in Ukraine on needs/requests and we also look into pathways for deliveries (through Poland?)
  6. @NHowold @Monica Surdu thanks for your posts. I believe circumstances are very challenging, right now. Would be great if we can connect with something like a neonatal society in Ukraine, but I myself have no such connections. But we do some research. If anyone knows more - please share One thing - we have been in touch with a startup called Neolooksolutions, they have a platform for connecting over mobile phones (like distance consultations). @Marco D'Agata (marco.dagata@neolooksolutions.com) emailed me and offered use of their platform. Connect with Marco over email if you have an idea how their platform can help.
  7. @selja I think are connected to some?
  8. We don't. And we do not culture the line tip when we take PICCs out (any longer )
  9. Thanks Flavio for bringing this up! In Stockholm, it is practically only midwifes or parents that brings this up, because of breast feeding difficulties or family history. So, prevalence of the problems depends on where and whom you work with. In my previous hospital, tongue ties were less often seen as a problem, compared to my current work place where it is a rather common issue brought up. The previous procedure was that the attending neonatologist did the frenulotomy (with glucose pain management only), but now cases are referred to an ENT doc. But I agree with a comment in the Tw thread - evidence... not too much of that IMHO, but the procedure is simple and quick and can be done under good spray analgesia.
  10. Check out - lots of input on this topic on lInkedin https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6892554624516399104/
  11. Yes, depending on antenatal care screening programs, I think screening infants of Rh-negative mothers can be helpful. But our experience from screening mothers with blood group 0 was not too good, we found a lot of Coombs+ infants that never got jaundiced. The ones with jaundice, and especially those needing treatment, "showed up" with clinical signs as usual. Having said that, I also think theses decisions are context-dependent, but suggest any implementation goes with a QI project that evaluates what the program adds to current practises.
  12. Thanks a lot @piatkat for the updated splash screen, now fixed!
  13. FCC 1(0)1 @piatkat can you send me a new intro PNG?
  14. Check out the recording of the first two webinars here!
  15. I admit I am a bit sceptical to this approach, but I also acknowledge I do not know about the background for this in KSA. I have some experience from a previous work place, where the delivery unit started to blood group all infants whose mother had blood group 0. We saw rather many positive Coombs tests (or DAT we we call it) in infants not developing any or just mild jaundice, and this all led to extra blood tests, sometimes prolonged stays in the maternity and unnecessary worries too. This screening practise was later stopped as it did not add anything in that hospital. What is the underlying reasons to implement this routine where you work?
  16. Join the Neonatal Nutrition Network (N3) and their Winter Meeting! This virtual conference takes place 10 February, 13:00 - 17:00 GMT. The program includes lectures and discussions about IgA, probiotics and donor breast milk, all hot topics in the neonatal community. All 99nicu members are cordially invited by N3 to join, free of charge. We are so grateful and very happy to see how collaborative spirits bring two large neonatal communitites together. The program is not yet published, but we will update this post as more info is available. You can register on this link: http://training.ucheducationcentre.org/home/viewcourse/581/
  17. On topic - a recent meta-analysis out in ADC/FN: https://fn.bmj.com/content/early/2021/12/22/archdischild-2021-322429 BTW, I wonder whether the "no significant effect" on sepsis is really a "true no effect" or just an example of how p-values steer how we report and interpret research finding as written about here: https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-019-00857-9 (yes, I signed this call)
  18. Hi Jennifer! I am sorry but we do use this catheter. Hope someone else share user experience!
  19. As 2021 is coming to an end and on behalf of the 99nicu Team, I would like to wish you a Happy New Year! Thank you for sharing your expertise and experience on 99nicu.org, through posts, DM's, emails and webinars in 2021. For 2022, we have some webinars in pipeline and we are also looking into how to meet up IRL again. For the time being, with a new wave of Covid, it seems challenging, but we keep faith that the situation will allow IRL meetings during the 2nd half of 2022. Let's hope and let's see! Best wishes for the coming year!
  20. @Nathan Sundgren Novonate - that’s a cool startup!
  21. Like @Dr.Lamiya we also secure UAC/UVC's with a holding sutur. In addition, a "tape bridge" with Steristrip This works pretty well, nurses check positions daily, as nb of cm inserted at skin level. @Jennifer check out the topic below, @gayle omansky posted some really nice fixation pictures there.
  22. @Jennifer - how do you mean? That the position of the UVC tip changes over time?
  23. Many of you have attended our educational conferences in Stockholm, Copenhagen and Vienna (aka as the #99nicuMeetup). Those first three meetings were a great way to gather the web community, and meet up IRL. Feedback from you all and from speakers were exceptionally good and for 2020 we had some really great plans for a 4th edition. However, the Covid pandemic effectively crushed all our plans... Now we have started to think about a #99nicuMeetup in Sept 2022 (for example 15-17 Sept, 2022) What do you think about such a plan? Join the discussion in our Lounge, which you can access as a logged in member.
  24. As you may recall, we planned our IRL #99nicuMeetup in April 2020, in Vienna, but had to cancel due to the Covid pandemic. Find that program attached We have now started to think about running this event 15-17 Sept 2022 (and pre/post workshops 14th and/or 18th). Please note that we have not set a definite date, we have no venue, we have not decided about location etc-etc. We just feel we want to meet up IRL again What do you think about all this? How/where/when would you like to attend? Please also share your thoughts on the previous program, and feel free to share your thoughts on topics/speakers/workshops etc-etc! Program.pdf
